Join us for Rocky Mountain Dance Theatre's 25th Anniversary full-length production of The Nutcracker Ballet set to Tchaikovsky's famous score. Choreography, sets, and lighting are all original, led by professionals in their field. Along with a large cast of performers from our local community and surrounding areas RMDT is proud to announce the return of Randy Pacheco and Sasha Vincett for their 4th year as guest artists. Soloists with Ballet Arizona, Sasha will perform the role of Arabian and Randy as Cavalier, dancing the Grand Pas with RMDT/RMSA’s very own Kyla Cossaboon in her senior performance as Sugar Plum Fairy. Kyla has been accepted into Texas Ballet Theatre Company, where she will further her ballet training in January. Also returning two very special RMSA/RMDT Alumni, Gracie Schmeiser appearing as Clare and Jessica McNeil as Drew Drop and Spanish.
RMDT's production of “The Nutcracker” brings the classic Nutcracker tale to life. It is a magical night about an enchanted Christmas Party where Clara is the guest of honor. After the party, the audience is witness to Clara's vivid dreams about her Nutcracker who comes to her rescue and then brings her to a magical land of dancing snowflakes and sugar treats.
Dates for 2022 performances are Saturday, December 10 at 7:00 and Sunday, December 11, at 2:00 at the Wynona Thompson Auditorium in Cody, Wyoming. Tickets for this year’s production can be purchased online at https://rockymountaindancetheatre.org/nutcracker/, or Cody Chamber in Cody, Wyoming.
As part of this year's celebration:
- RMDT is hosting a Champagne Celebration Friday, December 9 at The Cody Theatre and the public is welcome but tickets MUST be purchased in advance as this is a catered event.
- This season RMDT will complete the dream of the new set designed by Casey Kearns that has been in the works for the past 4 years. This will finalize the vision of “Setting the Stage” for the next 25 years of Cody’s very own Nutcracker ballet. “Setting the Stage” donations are still needed to fund this dream and greatly appreciated.
- Cynthia Kaelberer, local author and mother to RMDT’s Executive Director Elizabeth Fernandez, published a 150-page book “Feeding the Nutcracker Crew” reflecting on the last 25 years of Nutcracker productions. The book includes many images from Craig Satterlee, stories, memories, and recipes used over the years. Books can be purchased locally at Legends Bookstore in Cody and at the Nutcracker performances.
