Mark your calendars for Friday, April 19, 2024 as it will be RMDT's Swing Into Spring "Clash of the Academies" event. RMSA Academies 1-4 will perform some of their Spring Production dances. This year these academy classes will dance:
- Ac 1 & 1B Jazz & Hip Hop
- Ac 2 & 2B Jazz & Hip Hop
- Ac 3 Jazz & Contemporary
- Ac 4 Hip Hop & Contemporary
Once again, RMDT Spring Company will be challenged to perform the above Academies dances only having seen it performed the one time. Just like the show "Dancing with the Stars", individual RMSA Academy Dancers will judge RMDT Spring Company on how well they did on their challenged dance, by giving them a number between 1-10!
Rocky Mountain Dance Theatre is RMSA's affiliated non-profit performing arts organization that offers exceptional training, unique performance experience and opportunities for not only dancers but also musical theatre performers.
Being affiliated with RMDT offers our RMSA dance students a direct opportunity to excel in the performing arts. While younger academy students may not be old enough to participate in most of RMDT programs; RMSA dance classes are building dancers with the correct technical foundations to prepare them for the future. RMDT is a big part of the older RMSA Academies and therefore will become a big part of our younger RMSA Academy lives over the years.
Every spring RMDT has a fundraising event series called Swing Into Spring. This Clash of the Academies event has been a huge success and we continue to bridge the gap, if you will, between RMSA and RMDT and to raise money for RMDT. We want our younger academy families and older academy families to get to know each other, support one another, and have fun together all while supporting the organization they love.
What else can you expect at Friday Night's "Clash of the Academies" Swing Into Spring Event?
- Admission is free and open to the public (please invite other family & friends).
- Doors will open at 6:00 and Clem's concessions (candy, soda, popcorn & build your own ice cream bars), will be available for purchase.
- 307Pizza will NOT be there selling cheese or pepperoni pizzas this year as last year they didn't sell enough.
- There will be raffles geared for the kids with each raffle ticket priced at only $1.00
- We also have a few kid AND adult raffles for $5.00 a ticket.
- 3 of our RMSA Advance dancers/assistant teachers will have a pair of pointe shoes decorated by them along with special matching item for a special pointe shoe $5.00 raffle.
- Attendees will also get to see RMDT Spring Company debut some of their Spring Production dances.
- It will be a fun night with fellow studio families and supporters of The Arts!
We hope this will be an exciting fundraising event for 501c3 Rocky Mountain Dance Theatre with an amazing turnout. For many reasons, please understand this is NOT a drop off event and our Academy 1-4 dancers need to have a parent/guardian stay for the duration of the event.
